Facts about Sirius Black:
Sirius Black is one of the four Marauders (James Potter, Remus
Lupin, Peter Pettigrew). Sirius’ rebellion from his parents’ devout
ideas for purebloods started early and upon entrance into Hogwarts,
he was sorted into Gryffindor rather than the more common Slytherin
for the Black family. Sirius was named the godfather and legal
guardian of James Potter’s only child, Harry Potter. Sirius was set
to be the Potters’ secret keeper as well but, for unknown reasons,
Sirius convinced the Potters to make Peter Pettigrew their secret
keeper instead. Peter’s betrayal cost the Potters their lives and
led to Sirius’ imprisonment in Azkaban. Sirius escaped Azkaban and
vowed to avenge the deaths of James and Lily Potter. In going after
Peter, however, Sirius came to know his godson Harry and a close
relationship began to grow. After a few short years with Harry,
however, a plan of Voldemort’s regarding the Department of Mysteries
was put into action. Sirius descended upon the department to save
Harry and his friends and, ultimately, lost his life when a duel
with his cousin Bellatrix Lestrange resulted in him falling through
a mysterious veil. |
